The Inter-Lake Yachtsmen’s Fund was saddened to hear of the demise of Wyandotte Yacht Club. WYC generously donated the remaining club funds to the Fund. In honor of their long involvement in I-LYA, the Lake Erie boating community, and their long-time support of the Inter-Lake Yachtsmen’s Fund, we have established an annual grant in support of power boating education, training, and safety.
Grant applications will be posted to the website in the near future.
Incorporated October 10, 1919, the Inter-Lake Yachtsmen’s Fund has been supporting sailors and boaters throughout the Lake Erie region for nearly a century. Thanks to past support, many grant recipients have gone on to become, coaches, crew, and boat owners throughout the USA and beyond – contributing to the boating community and the sport of sailing for many years to come.
Grants are given for amateur activities for both youth and adults – Powerboating and Sailing – including:
US Sailing Championships
Training for Judges, Race Officers, Instructors, and Event Managers
Partial funding of expenses for youth to travel to major regattas and training events outside our region
Support of clubs and boating organizations hosting national-level sailing and powerboating events
Housing and coaching for the I-LYA Junior Sailing Championships (JBW)A 60+ year tradition bringing youth from across the region to compete
